Grammar Games

Grammar Games

Every month we look at the additional learning resources that are available to learners on the Digital Learning Hub.

🔦 This month the spotlight is on the Grammar Games.

The Grammar Games are fun and interactive games which have been designed by our specialist team to enhance learners’ English language skills through fun and interactive extracurricular activities.

About the Grammar Games

Our Grammar Games feature a series of puzzling mysteries set across the UK. They have been designed to be used by learners simultaneously with our pre-intermediate English language course, Journey 2 English. The games encourage learners to put their English language skills into practice, helping the characters communicate with one another to solve the mysteries.

Our Grammar Games are categorised in accordance with the CEFR scale and allow learners to select games that are relevant to their English proficiency level. Each game covers different grammar points, including:

  • Present Simple and Present Continuous
  • Command Verbs
  • Singular and Plural Nouns
  • The Present and Future Tense
  • Modal Verbs
  • Comparatives and Superlatives
  • And much more…

Why is learning through games so effective?

Harvard Professor, Chris Dede states:

“Games and immersive, authentic simulations open up opportunities by infusing the foundational parts of education with narrative, which enables motivation.”

In a nutshell: Learning through games enhances the learning experience and makes learning more engaging and interactive for learners. It gives our learners the opportunity to apply all of the English language skills that they have learned and rewards them for their successes through scoring and awards.
