The A0 test offers 100 test items over the four language skills designed to cover the following:
- Letters of the alphabet, upper and lower case
- Using joined -up writing
- Cardinal and ordinal numbers to 100
- Simple prices and quantities
- Common food and drink
- Plural forms
- Familiar names, words and phrases on simple notices
- Formal and informal social contacts, greetings and farewells
- Basic forms of introduction, age, nationality and language
- Everyday basic common words e.g. jobs and transport
- Times, days and months
- Asking and answering simple questions about possessions
- Asking for repetition
